EMP / SOLAR FLARE

Post by rod savage »

Howdo

I'm new here and live in Lancaster. Hello to all of you right thinking people. So many people think we are barmy.

I hate the words 'bug-out' because I immediately think of opening a window to get rid of a spider or a bluebottle, so I will refer to it as 'Leaving sharpish'

I am 60. My lady is 62 and as her toy boy most of the prep for 'leaving sharpish' is down to me. My main concern is not terrorism or biological etc, but EMP or similar caused by solar flare making the electricity fail. The actual survival bit I am cool with, its the getting all my stuff to my 'leaving sharpish' destination which is the problem post EMP.

That being the case I really need someone who can define exactly waht vehicle will be able to withstand an EMP. I know lots of people say 'Deisels', or older cars which have a distributor cap instead of electronic ignition etc, but lots of deisels have engine management systems and computer chip technology these days.

So my question is really simple. What sort of vehicle do I need to get hold of which will work post EMP, or what can I do to my present vehicle (late model Citroen Deisel) to make sure I have wheels and dont have to nick a herd of horses.
