can anyone tell me if its safe to store drinking water in 25lt bottles that used to have de mineralised water in them

as long as the bottles are clean and so is the water is ok
id advise washing the bottles with something like miltons immediately before use then adding just boiled water. then capping them. have the bottle in a plunge bath to stop the bottle deforming.. if bugs form in the water you will see them usually as slime around the bottom of the bottle.
if you dont want to do that fill bottles with tap water and just boil nearer when you want to use it..
remember that the plastic from the bottle will leech chemicals into the water if left in sun.. even if treated you should store in the cool and dark
