Water storage question

Post by a.h.sparks »

Hi guys I have been given 4 25l water containers and I was filling them and as I have very little space I was going to put them in my shed when I thought what if they freeze. How have you prevented this from happening.

Thanks
Adam

It's not a problem if the water freezes - just leave an air gap at the top for the expansion of the ice so that the containers dont split

What Gary said. Freezing wont hurt the water, just the container it's stored in, if you don't leave room for expansion. If you are storing tap water just remember to change it every few months.

erm like any other thing we eat or drink constant freezing and melting can cause food poisoning , but if you use water purification or boil it it should be fine

Hi guys thanks for the replys I was just botherd about the containers not the water. I will leave an air gap and see. My water butt had a loose lid and air gap and still burst last year.

Thanks
