I don’t forget to turn stuff off! I don’t need a machine to tell me that leccy is being wasted. One of the adverts on telly tells you in a humorous way that turning stuff off is the best way to save money. Mind you ,talking to my best mate in the village ,we both agreed that using solid fuel makes us very aware of power use!

Waste is bad in all parts of prepping isn’t it?
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Covid 19: After that level of weirdness ,any situation is certainly possible.

I got the "read your meter" email again. I replied with I don't take jobs from cashiers at supermarkets or meter readers at utility companies.

They know where my meters are

I'm fine with them estimating until they have a reader in my area.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

We moved a year ago and our new supplier (British gas) stipulated that it was a requirement of the move. Reluctantly agreed, when he had moved in they emailed to arrange a date to a smart meter, I replied saying I'd changed my mind and I haven't heard anything since (in a year). I think this just means they've forgotten rather than anything else.

Just read that between 2017 and 2023 nearly 350 000 smart meters were remotely switched to more expensive tariffs
Alongside the massive profits British gas has made ..
I've been getting call after call to switch to smart meter
Blocked them all then got emails junked them too
I pay for what we use and am careful but if we need it I use it

I eventually used their complaints procedure and threatened them with Ombudsman and said that I would report them for harassment. I got a very nice reply saying that they would remove me from their contact list and have not received a call, text or email since.
Growing old disgracefully!
