Tesco Lentil meals

Post by rik_uk3 »

250gm, £1 a pouch and add a bit of pasta or rice and you could stretch it to a meal for two. 18 month UBD but should last a lot longer than that

35p for the rice and a quid for the lentils and you have a meal that will fill you. The pouch meals you can boil in the bag but can remain a bit dry.

Dice up corned beef, add to pot with a little water and heat to soften then stir in a packet of rice. This is a good base, you can add veg/tom puree/curry powder etc.

Those look perfect for Jenny's £10 ration challenge. 7 of them with micro rice @35p is just under a tenner.

:D My £10 was to feed you for a month :D
For simplicity, though they fair very well. An assortment of pouch meals or tinned soups definitely has it's place in the extended pantry. As Rik says, these can be augmented with other stuff for variety to get a familiar, hearty meal on the table quickly.

£4.00 per kg & £1.40 per kg for the rice. Not a bad deal at all.

Compares to £1.80 per kg just for Tesco Lentils and 45p for its cheapest rice.... Which is not currently available!!!

Just tried the lentil bolognese. Very nice but as stated above needs a filler with it.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Just dehydrating a packet of these lentils:

Using this method:

Then I'll reseal in the original bag and weigh.

250gm, prices vary a LOT but my local B&M and Home Bargains have them at £1 a pouch with various flavours. Pad them out with dried spud/rice/pasta
