Post by MJ. »

Hi, have been making knives for about 5 or 6 months now and wanted to show a couple of my latest ones.
both made from 1/4" o1 tool steel, both with 6" blades

You've only been making knives for 5 or 6 months ?

Wow, very impressive. Looks like you have the start of a new, potentially very successful business if you want it !

Very impressive. How and where did you learn to make them? Was it easy?

it started out of curiosity back in April this year, picked up bits of information on how to do it on line and soon discovered theres much more to it. i found out that its relatively easy to make "a knife" but very very hard to make a "good" knife... frustratingly hard if im honest with a chance of ruining it at prettu much every stage. its the hidden work that makes the blade... preparation of the steel, heat treat, the tempering... in short its very hard.
have only made around 30 knives so far and hoping to get better.

I'm really impressed. They look very good, and not only that, they look as if they'd work really well too. Is the red dot your maker's mark?

From one blade-smith to obviously another, very nice work.
If I may ask, what are you grinding your blade bevels with ?
