Been after a new decent EDC torch for a while, read the reviews etc and decided on the Fenix PD35. So my views on this torch??? Amazing, this is the 2014 version, so it kicks out 960 lumens on full (turbo) setting, cant equate what that means in layman's terms, but for a comparison, my 2D cell led maglite kicks out approx 140-ish lumens, so it is amazingly bright, fits in your hand and is quite small enough to fit in a coat or jacket pocket, comes with a belt holster for easy carry. Torch can be run off either rechargeable li-ion batteries or disposables, battery life is dependent on power setting, torch has 5 power settings and a strobe setting that flashes at full power, shock proof and water proof down to two meters, you can look on you tube for videos etc, but even despite the rather hefty price tag, £59.95 from torch direct (great service by the way guys) i think its a great EDC torch, great for home, car, camping etc,
Highly Recommended. Cant figure out how to post piccies, but there are plenty on net.

My EDC torch is one of these http://www.wilko.com/torches/wilko-torc ... vt/0289469. 9 LED, 3 AAA, Rubberised outer coating. I haven't done a side by side test yet but I suspect that the batteries in this will last longer than the Cree above. I also carry one of these http://www.poundland.co.uk/electrek-7-led-head-torch in the car in case of a night time wheel change.
Re: New EDC Torch review.
I've had similar torches to those and with regards to battery life, I'm not sure which would last longer?? Changing batteries is not something I've had to do often as I do not tend to have torches on for extended periods, its normally a few seconds or a minute or two at most.Bad Wombat wrote:My EDC torch is one of these http://www.wilko.com/torches/wilko-torc ... vt/0289469. 9 LED, 3 AAA, Rubberised outer coating. But putting battery life aside, the cree torch wins hands down in performance, there is no comparison between these 2 torches.

Re: New EDC Torch review.
Agreed. I've got one of the crees and they are pretty impressive even with a standard AA battery. With a proper battery (3.7V Li-ion I think) the output is supposed to be absolutely amazing. However, for my uses (usually just walking in the dark), the 9 LED torch is enough light. I don't see any reason why the cree LED should be radically more efficient than a standard LED, so more light from the cree means less battery life. So in that respect I would expect the 9 LED torch to out perform the cree.Devonian wrote:But putting battery life aside, the cree torch wins hands down in performance, there is no comparison between these 2 torches.
