On the subject of SovBloc stuff for winter, Endicotts have Serbian 100% wool blankets for just 16 notes (new look website as well). There are three subtypes and the smallest one also seems to be the heaviest for some reason

These are ace... Got one off Doncaster market army surplus over a year ago (GEN 1 the label gives it away) goes camping with me all the time as a extra ground mat on top of my self inflating mat last winter i slept outside (about 4 degrees with just the blanket and a groundmat only getting cool before dawn broke ...
had i not just blow £330 on a new cooker i would be ordering enough for the Andy mob.. sod sleeping bags space vs warmth these win hands down IMO although they can be a bit itchy

Well I got a bit of a bonus yesterday. Last year I asked on Freecycle for Apples. Duly got some from a very nice lady. Well, she kept my details as there were 20lbs of Apples (not just any old Apples either, but Bramleys!) in the kitchen when I got home from work. There are some genuinely nice people about.
The kitchen smells of autumn this morning. The Plum tomatoes are ripening nicely to so this week I am mainly preserving.

I have gone round the house and put new batteries in the smoke alarms, torches and the emergency touch lights. I have been and picked up 50 kg of spuds and ordered half a ton of coal to be delivered at teatime today.

Covid 19: After that level of weirdness ,any situation is certainly possible.
Went down to my land and cut more firewood for the log burner, i have just busted 2 new chains on the stihl, i wish people wouldn't nail things to trees, it costs me money in new chains.
However 2 more large trailer loads are now chopped and split in the woodshed ready for this winter.
After reading the "house fire" thread, This week I will be adding to my fire plans: 2 extra extinguishers and 1 additional smoke alarm.
Especially important since the weather is getting colder and we'll be starting to use the fire again.
Also on the list for this week is teaching my eldest (4) about fire safety, he's already pretty switched on, but a refresher from last year can't hurt.
