I have spent the weekend sharing the harvest with neighbours. Our fruit trees have done so well this year, but the thought of plum crumble or stewed plums fills me with horror after being fed on it along with various other fruit puddings as a child fills me with horror. Damsons eww, grandad used to spit the stones into a dish, the same with plums. Rhubarb and apple I will happily eat. I have made two huge batches of tomato base sauce from our wonderful crop of tomatoes and added some of the lovely basil I grew. Next weekend I need to concentrate on harvesting the apples for pies, crumbles and apple sauce and will also use some of the fantastic crop of rasperries. I have also just ordered a whole load of jars and malt vinegar for the beetroot. This will also be shared out with the neighbours and a couple of elderly relatives who live close by.
Growing old disgracefully!

I probably have a 2 year supply of jam. Plum cheese is a bit so-so but plum fruit leather disappears as fast as I can make it. No plum crumbles as we rarely eat puddings. The jam will make Chinese style plum sauce for duck and a plum cake based on jam for winter.

Needn't have bothered watering the pot plants yesterday. It poured down last night/this morning. Next door have had the contents of their living room dining room outside while getting the floor done, and only put half of it back. I hope they didn't get anything important ruined. Some dining chairs, but they should be ok.

Had a look at some financial stuff. Last boiler payment should be in September. Got to pay lodger his deposit. Got to decide whether to pay insurance all in one go or monthly. Moved some money from a savings account to current. Changed Apple Music from Family to Individual - the lodgers were on it. Have put the cleaners off for three months. Need to cancel Now TV. Basically, I'm a bit skint for a while. I'm still planning on getting the ivy trimmed though. But apart from that, I need to cut back.

Got an MOT....... Late !

I remembered I needed one but thought it was this week not last....... .Gov offer a free reminder service which I wasn't signed up to.
You get one email or text a month before and (if you haven't got one yet) a fortnight before.

Seeing as no MOT= No insurance and your car will get lifted for that, checking a few boxes can save you £150 or more

I believe if you have no MOT you can legally drive it to a pre booked test at local test centre,
if in doubt ask when you phone to book.

Lodger left yesterday. No issues really. His floor's knackered, but I knew that. Room would need decorating if I want to get another lodger. Drawers are knackered, but I knew that. The bed was his, so there's plenty of space. This is the front living room actually. Other lodger is still here, but is only here a few hours, about once a week. I reduced his rent a while back.

Went in the loft and fitted the lap vents. Put a bluetooth thermometer up there so I can keep an eye on humidity on my phone.

Car passed it’s MOT yesterday but there’s an advisory on the suspension arm and the brakes need replaced soon so I told my garage to go ahead and do them.

Does anyone want to buy a second hand kidney? 😭
