Few warm days coming up, but got down to 9° last night, which is pretty cold if you are outdoors. In fact, when we get most nights at that temperature, is when my winter prep season starts, in about a month. Had to shut my window this morning, and put a shirt over my t-shirt.

Well, I was going to do a bit of cropping. Got some plum trees with a nice load that were almost ripe. Key word here is "were".. S*ding foxes have scoffed the lot!

Love plums - didn’t know foxes ate them …?!
Mr McPrepper is currently constructing shelves for my new ‘prepper pantry’ to re-house all of the inaccessible tins and jars - will hopefully make rotation a bit easier!

GG and Y/Andy - you're definitely on the side of the angels!

Gerald (I do love your name on here  ) I didn't know they scoffed plums either! Mind you, thanks to my mum's insistence, I only ever pick fruit from the human knee-level upwards - otherwise there's all sorts of stuff on them, potentially. The foxes in my garden, I've seen them eating seed heads before now, so I suppose plums are more of the same, grrr. There's a wild plum tree on my rec ground, and I go for the ones above my head

Own prepping: I can't let the foxes stay so unchallenged in my garden, sadly :( I went out to put some washing on the line a few days ago, and was greeted by hundreds of flies - they've been peeing in the gravel at the side of the house. I can't walk through that every time I go to the garden, and there's a lot of poo there too. Out there today with some vinegar - disruptive, but not a killer.

Did a bit of research. Apparently foxes will eat just about anything but are fond of plums. They can even climb trees. Our crop was about chest high - it's a newish tree, but definitely in reach of a fox...

But it kindly spat the seeds out as well - all over the path..

Foxes will eat anything. I really don't like them at all. Fine in the wild though, minding their own business.

Got a new 8' round paddling pool

Reduced to £20 in home bargains..

Now in summer it would get used as intended....

Winter.... or other times that's over 2074 litres at 80% full of potable water i can store (I've got a elasticated cover and chlorine tablets )

Even if its used for bathing or washing up / flushing the toilet
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

We had to defend both plum trees using netting around the bases once the fruit was close to ripe to stop the foxes getting to it. Last year we did not do this early enough and lost a lot of fruit.

Cut the lawn in the heat, as there's a lot of rainy days coming up. Took a duvet cover off a duvet, to use empty tonight. Took some old clothes to Sainsburys recycling. Backed up my computer on three encrypted external drives. Scrubbed a photo of my driving licence and passport, using Disk Drill, a free app. Apparently it's bad to keep them in the cloud. Rotating some long life curry tonight. Will have an extra cupboard when the lodger goes. Which I need - got a 1.8kg box of veggie gravy granules recently struggling for space for it. No room in the prep room for them. I'm gonna start going through that once it cools down, and the lodger's gone. I can also use his room to put stuff in if necessary. I'll stick my fan in there when the hot weather's over.
