Why am I here?

Huh, a question rarely asked by myself or others really. I guess I am here to learn and to better myself, to further my dream of escaping the grasp of the corporate realm. I currently work as a tiny cog in a huge machine that's the corporation SCH, conditions for us lower rung guys aren't great and really all I want is out. I want to be running my own little business, making enough money to be comfortable with a couple luxuries.

The film 28 Days alter, other zombie flicks and war type films helped me think "Well, what if? How will I manage?" But apart form thought exercises it never went much further. Now I want it to go further, before i was complacent to live in the city but after a camping weekend with Graafen and Meyou up north in the woods, i wanted that more again.

I won't mind living in the out laying city areas, just as long as I've got some woodland I know I can always escape to.

A combination of being more aware of the may things in the world that can have an impact on my small part of it and the observation that more and more people expect everything on a plate, from luxury to security. Those same people will moan, complain and will always look to place blame on others when they don't have them.

I simply do not want to be one of people.

I happened to meet a guy on my local field while we were both walking our dogs at about 11.30pm in January just over two years ago, in a blizzard and minus temperatures. We chatted about a few things, I said I loved this type of weather and loved the outdoors in general, he asked me a few questions on why I was continually seeking out new knowledge around widlerness living, bushcraft etc, I said I wanted to be prepared out in the world, he asked me if I had looked into the whole community of preparedness thing, I went away, did just that and through my looking around made my mind up on what was going on in the world, and ultimately I woke up!!

I wanted to "take the red pill and see how far the rabbitt-hole goes...
