what were the riots last year if not "violent anarchy"?
Were we "plunged into violent anarchy long term over any significant portion of the country"

no maybe, but it wasnt just London where it happened, and next time the Police may not have the officers to call upon( budget cuts ?), an event COULD occur to make those riots look like a "teddy bears picnic".

Don't you think that there was some level of "if you go ahead with these cuts" stuff going on behind the scenes?

Next time they are likely to be facing live ammunition as well, I very much doubt they will be allowed out by their mums next time. Most of the "Rioting" was general lawlessness, theiving little scrotes looting anything and everything and a few opportunists on the rob.

Many moons ago my Father was sent with a Company of soldiers to Liverpool to deal with possible "disorder", armed with No4 Lee-Enfields and orders to shoot to kill on the second shot, strangely enough those who were "stirring it up" called it off.

With future "rioters" facing armed police with orders to shoot anyone with a petrol bomb then I don't see it becoming a major cause for concern.

sorry, i just cant see armed Police firing at people in this day and age, i dont think the British public(a.k.a. sheeple) standing for it, the M.P.'s will not give the order as they know they will lose their seats at the next election.

Just don't go out during the next squabble then.

There are plenty of Police who would be more than willing given the opportunity.

I wonder how many recently discharged soldiers will be signing up as civvy police, with firearms training at the front of their mind?

The same in a lot of places, nothing happened in lots and lots of places some of them big cities

The "riots" were isolated incidents in a very few places.

they MAY get their act together next time, depending on what the "gripe" is that sets it off, wont happen in my neck of the woods anyway, not a large population, and we dont have the mobile phone shops, TV shops etc in my small town. what we have got is one very small Co-op, 2 repair garages, 1 filling station, 1 small newsagents, 1 small bakers, a deli, a post office and a Farmers shop, nothing very exciting there and really not worth looting. oh, and i forgot the Farm shop 1 mile out of town.
