Yes it could, but watch out for the purple colour ;)

Wouldn't need a lot of treatment as it is already laced with pool shock to keep it suitable for swimming in.

Excellent.. were lucky enuff to have a small pool in the garden, often wondered whether it would be drinkable if TSHTF..
We also have several 5l bottles of water stored and boxes of purification tablets. for the 2 of us we woudl prolly be able to last quite a while on a basic ration of 5l each a day.
Also, Re washing. weve been stocking up on these wet wipes in order to reduce the need for water for washing.. they are quite cheap and are often on a promotion.

Because i live in Scotland where clean drinking water is plentiful I've never given much thought to storing much more than 12 litres of water in the house (incase the mains go off). Should i thought?

I havent given over much space to water either - we have a burn nearby and I'm near the top of the hill so its clean. I haven't even got water butts because they would always be full, we get so much rain I just don't need them tbh.

I think in your case that all you need to store is a means to transport the water, a good water filter and some chlorine bleach. My next-door-neighbour used to drink water fresh from the hills, unfortunately the water was contaminated by an ex-sheep and she quickly became ill and needed strong anti-biotics. Better safe than sorry. We live on a hill but we have 6 very large water butts, a tad excessive but what the heck, I'm not sure I want to be hauling water about!
