From my point of view,we are fairly calm. Sh!t happens!
We are fit and well, have stores of everything from apple juice to Z- I'll think of summat beginning with Z! But you get it. I have stated to use the Bedouin Nomad Mantra," Today we have food and shelter-tomorrow is another day".

Thanks for your concern-you know of these things. :D

Thank god everybody in here has the one thing that matters most - attitude  Never, ever, EVER!! let the buggers get you down. When one door slams in your face, get an axe and hack another one out. And when all else fails (as it often does lol) just sit tight and shut down anything that isnt vital to life - no frills or extras or waste. Because nothing lasts forever, time passes and things improve one day. But I've been there often and its not enjoyable I know xx.

sorry to hear of all the recent job losses - I've been off work coming up nearly a year now and its not fun, at least I have a saturday job which brings in a bit of cash every month. My Part 2 test is on Tuesday, am praying that I pass and can go onto Part 3, otherwise its back to the drawing board to see what other carreer I can train up for.

A couple of sayings I try to remind myself of every day and live by: "if its meant to be, it will be"; "you learn something new every day" (and I certainly do!); "God will never give me more than I can handle"; and "Karma's a bitch  "

Ditto :) and sorry to you others are in the same boat. But it does breed new opportunities so who knows what is round the corner. Like I said, I am just glad that I have been squirrelling away a few things over the last few months and freezing down extra portions of food. This week we have eaten all sorts of things from the freezer. I open the draw and say "right .. I've a portion of sweet n sour, a portion of stew and a bit of ..." so meal times have been quite varied and the girls get free school meal now my OH is on Jobseekers allowance so hey ho! (my 11 yr old was very pleased - she wanted school meals but I had said I couln't justify £10 a week on school meals so she is chuffed as anything to be getting them now!)

Anyhow - *raises a glass* Here's to what ever happens next and the new opportunities it brings us all.

Bring it on-what does not kill you makes you stronger. It is not a case of what you ain't got,but what you have. My late Father was a naval man ,and his motto/mantra was "Adapt!"

What a bloke! He was brought up in the East End of London in the 1930's. He was a cussin' old hard drinkin' son of a gun. Taught me to shoot and fish( my passion), play cards and make cash from NOTHING.
I have not lost my work yet-I will-but not yet. I am owed 3/4 of a years redundancy pay-I earned that, and I am stickin'out for it!

Remember-ADAPT!

I've been looking for work since the end of Feb. Interview yesterday (don't think I got it. The interviewer turned up in shorts and a T shirt, told me at one point it felt like she was being interviewed - I asked questions about the post) another one Monday. Just have to keep plugging away. The Job Centre being as much help as a chocolate fire alarm...

i was told a long time ago by someone who worked in The Job Centre that"we are not here to find you a job"?? there are so many people unemployed these days, we will never have 100% employment again...if we ever had it? i was unemployed in the days of Maggie Thatcher...more unemployed then than now-i think the numbers were up above the 3 million mark....thankless task trying to find a job these days...good luck to anyone who is looking for work..but...i think it will get worse before it gets better especially with all this Euro business..if Greece drops out it will have a knock on effect.

Shorts and tee shirt. That is a worry. Of course you were old school and wore a shirt and tie.

Of course. I find it heightens the shock when I come in on my first day in a Sarong.. ;)
