Saw one ep of DD Preppers where the fella felt pretty much the same, in the end he decided he could help out his town more by telling people about prepping and getting them to do it themselves than trying to use his own supplies. Not sure how successful he was it's only a small segment but if I tried that here, I'd be ignored at best and dumped in the harbour at worst.

I think you've just gotta look after yourself & immediate family, hope that remote family are at least doing their best and stick to yourselves, they do say charity begins at home, shame our government don't follow that line of thought, still....

I do feel I have an obligation to help some people if I can

i have absolutely no compunction to help my fellow man, 30 years ago i might have felt a lot different but people these days are so materialistic and greedy, i have no obligation, let them all starve," once the balloon goes up" as it were, my only obligation is to my own family and thats where it stops.
