Re: Car BOB
Thanks everyone, some good suggestions for me to pick up. Thanks for the photos, helps to see whats what. Had another thought too about maybe getting one of those portable urinal`s. Maybe/maybe not, not sure if it would get used?

There are two basic types, the bottle ones and the gel sort.valderee wrote:Thanks everyone, some good suggestions for me to pick up. Thanks for the photos, helps to see whats what. Pro's and Con's for both, but research is your best friend here.
To sum it up though.
Bottles are just that. Use and empty as much as you need but if you can't empty (and hopefully, rinse) it right now, you have to deal with a container of liquid that may or may not spill (some do have lids) and after a bit in the car you might wish you'd gone 'nose-blind'.
Gel types are a plastic bag (often with a stiffer material around the opening) full of crystals that turn into an inert lump when they get wet. Spill proof and pong proof but only have a limited capacity (some of the Amazon reviews suggest that they can be used a couple of times before all the crystals are expended) and once reached thats it.

Re: Car BOB
Forgot to add to my last post the reason why I suggested a couple of cans instead (or as well as) some snack bars is that its easy for 'emergency' food to become 'I'm hungry' food and get troughed. He'd have to be pretty desperate to open and eat a tin of beans and sausages cold just because he's feeling peckish.

Thanks for that, some good points there. I will look at both and consider which I think would be best, although the gel ones sound ideal.
Thank you too Deeps, im thinking too if we ever out and about and get stuck so maybe the cans a good idea for feeding more than one person.
Re: Car BOB
Just a thought on the urinal/bottle idea, back in the dim dark past I was a HGV driver, I always found a recently emptied and rinsed 1 litre (or 2 litre depending on need) plastic milk carton did a good enough job for an overnight stay, they have a screw top and if placed in the opposite foot well of the vehicle (to keep upright and so you don't kick it over). Just thought I'd mention it it might not be for everyone but it's a more or less free alternative.
Re: Car BOB
A lot of my work is outdoors and rather than even thinking about trying to use a customers toilet I too keep a plastic milk bottle in the back of the van usually in a bucket nowadays " just in case" and it did once
after that it comes home and finds it's way to the compost.

I have some experience with snow shovels. The longer the handle, the better. The short compact versions (around 80cm) will very quickly destoy your lower back (unless you are the size of a child or enjoy working on your kneesForgeCorvus wrote:
Folding shovel might be useful, but a folding snow shovel would be even better

unfortunately in college so I cant legally have anything with a blade, even if it is UK legal carry. So I just carry a multi too (No blade), lighter, water, small MRE and small survival kit. I also carry it to work with me, I don't have a car so it a no to the Car BOB just to work.
