Thanks for all the replies, some great additions to make to my kit
Picked up a 1kg bag of salt for 34p - Piglet thats a great call!
Thanks 12mp82 for the additions - tow rope amongst them how did I forget that!
poppypiesdad good call with the breaker bar - especially if inept tyre fitters have used an impact driver on full whack.
Good idea to check you have the locking wheel nut key if your wheels are fitted with them too!
Should have also mentioned, the roughneck shovel is great, got mine from Toolstation for £9.91
http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Landsca ... 669/p99461 (cheaper than amazon £11.70)
Very small and compact, but well made and will have no problem shifting snow or mud.
Car Kit - mine so far....
Re: Car Kit - mine so far....
Jump leads? Often a handy thing for others as much as yourself.
And a pack of baby wipes. Yeah, I know - but they're so useful! You can do anything from clean up minor spills to wipe muck off the windows with em. We always have at least one roll of kitchen towels and a roll of small white bin bags too.

A source of entertainment?
With your update you've pretty much covered yourself for all your physical needs but mentally you'd need distraction/means of relaxation.
Keeping with the most likely scenarios of being stuck, break down, snowed in, etc... a good part of those is killing time and I know if I had to rely on the radio it wouldn't be time I'm killing.
I suggest a couple of puzzle books and a book you've been wanting but could be arsed to start for years (we all have a few) that way you can chop and change when getting bored and having more than one is needed in case the event happens with a passenger.

Re: Car Kit - mine so far....
well ihave tool kit ,
swiss multitool knife,
first aid kit,
fire extingusher
tire wrench extendable
jump leads
warning triangle
tyre weld
reflective jacket
torch
lighter
playing cards
pen/paper
desposible camera
fleece blanket
small foldable shovel
handy tissues
chewing gum (good for putting over small holes if radiator takes a stone hit)
plastic spoons
4 self heating tin meals (hot cans)
6 self heating drinks (choc,tea,coffee 2go)
travel johns (multi sex)...this has been a life saver when stuck on motorway
and some spare tampons (partners idea.. being a man did nt think of this till she said but makes sense)
it sounds alot but if you pack it in tight you can get it in a small ruck sack with exception of tools, triangle, extingusher, jump leads and tyre weld witch can be put in spare wheel.
never thought of a tow rope or seat belt knife/window hammer so might have to get one!

redskies :Jump leads are a good call, I did read that using them with "modern" car is not recommended due to the sensitive electrics - however google does not seem to provide a definite answer.
Trish52: Yes i need to get some food, I picked up a packet of shortbread! loads of calories but I need to add some more.
Cocotte: I've got a pack of cards, but a book or something probably would be good - will add
ynotshi: thanks for your extensive list some good extra kit to carry there - camera is something I usually carry but I don't have a disposable one - can you still get them processed!

Re: Car Kit - mine so far....
Tyre Weld! Invented by my great great grandfather, then sold to Dunlop for a fiver. Silly man!
Re: Car Kit - mine so far....
Agreed. Otherwise the chances of going stir crazy before rescue arrives increases dramatically! Puzzle books, cards, reading books - anything that you can absorb yourself in.Cocotte wrote:A source of entertainment?

I'd also suggest a wind up phone charger.

Re: Car Kit - mine so far....
Being pedantic, I'd substitute 550 paracord for the rope and I never go any where without my Leatherman(except on an aircraft they won't let me take it anymore, so it lives in my suitcase in the hold)
