If you mean "IT" by way of what has been happening in this Country over the last 2 years, I mean the riots in London and other major cities and the general bad feelings there are out there among the population then I don't think so.
It's not even the start of "IT". It's too disorganised and is utter choas. I think that you/us as Preppers, Survivalists or whatever we are termed as, have a little while longer before anything big happens.
I think that over the next few years (5-10) you will see a lot more unrest in the cities but it will get more organised and will be more brutal (widespread use of firearms), you could see the Police Service being armed (it'll start with the Metropolitan Police and filter down to other cities and towns) and more rules and regulations on what we can and cannot do.
Ultimately we could be facing Total War. But we won't be fighting it on just Foreign shores it'll be here on our own soil aswell. Think something along the lines of dirty bombs, cyber warfare. Whether it does go full scale Nuclear War I don't know, no-one does.
I hope I'm wrong and everything is bright and breezy, but these lines are something to think about, but keep on prepping and enjoy life as much as you can.
What if this is it?

Whether you are wrong or right, even an all-out global nuclear war is totally survivable (as long as you aren't in the impact zone)Rubber Duck wrote:

If you are prepared for all eventualities the only thing to FEAR is FEAR itself
Keep prepping

Wouldn't be much of an "All-out" nuclear war then would itTimeisoftheEssence wrote:even an all-out global nuclear war is totally survivable (as long as you aren't in the impact zone)
After all some 2000 nuclear weapons were detonated from 1945 to 1996 when the CTBT was adopted, and we managed to all survive that without too many side effects
Re: What if this is it?
Time is of the essence spoke of The New Level Of Normal. I think that is a fair assessment of the world now. We had the Credit Crunch 4yrs ago,and it's gone downhill since then. Now it's worldwide mass unemployment, high fuel prices(and I suspect less fuel to go round)Wars and threats of wars, food shortage, climate changewe are in a drought now).
A single major event COULD happen, but imo shtf is our change in lifestyle i.e. the fat, lazy days are over. No more cushy jobs,no more cushy retirement packages, all of us having to think about the resources we use, because they are not cheap and abundant.
You all get the picture.

its a bit late for that NOW, the time to worry about resources was a decade ago, they wont just be scarce now they will be running out.jansman wrote:,all of us having to think about the resources we use, because they are not cheap and abundant.

That's what I meant Jansman - nothing solid enough to put my finger on, just a change in how things are, and a feeling that we've passed a point of no return. We've always throughout history had some crisis or other, some war or other and always it was sorted. But now it feels like things have gone out of balance somehow without us even noticing it, and it might not be possible to rebalance.

Exactly Lil!Bang on the money. I too, think the decline is happening,we have to accept a fall in living standards. We have all talked the talk. Now we walk the walk!diamond lil wrote:That's what I meant Jansman - nothing solid enough to put my finger on, just a change in how things are, and a feeling that we've passed a point of no return. We must see the signs. This is it. I'm stocking up.

Certainly something has to give, I just can't see a generation or two swallowing the austerity proposed to make some numbers on a screen add up.diamond lil wrote:But now it feels like things have gone out of balance somehow without us even noticing it, and it might not be possible to rebalance.

Its true.
At least I think that it is.
But it will be a slow change to a solar powered future where we all use minimal energy, everyone has a solar panel array, a wind generator, water and ethanol distillers, wood gas technology and manual tools but with some internet connectivity of sorts. A blend between the medieval and the high tech information age.
Partially "green" and partially Silicon and a more modest style of life.
