Please read the label carefully.

Vitamin c wrote: Sat Nov 19, 2022 4:02 pm Others to watch are gravy granules and stock cubes , your might as well just eat salt.
I use a mix:

Corn starch flour - heaped tsp
Knorr Zero Salt Veggies stock cube - about 1/6 to 1/4 cube
Kallo very low salt cube - about 1/6 cube
Bisto low salt veggie gravy granules - 1 tsp
Kallo organic low salt gravy granules - 1tsp

adds up to 0.48 g salt

I checked my bread, it's only 0.38 g per slice, Aldi Both In One medium sliced. Their Everyday Essentials Wholemeal bread is 0.34, but I'm not supposed to eat too much wholemeal, hence the 50-50/both in one.

Pizza last night was 2.4, bit high - Goodfelows stonebaked thin crust. Was in Sainsbury's and they didn't have their own brand. Will go to Aldi next time, their Everyday Essential frozen pizza is 1.98 and ridiculously cheap (66p)

Cereal I have 30g Rice Pops 10g Bran Flakes (both Sainsburys) total 0.38g salt
The breakdown might surprise you
Rice Pops 0.16
Wholewheat Bran Flakes 0.06
Semi Skimmed Milk 145ml 0.16
I also add Inulin, Flax seeds and Psyllium all 0.00.
My main aim here is to get fibre without oxalates.

My Calorie Counter app ranks all my saved meals in salt content

Highest is Quorn Garlic Escalope with the above gravy mix and veg, 1.89g salt. Actually pizza usually goes a bit higher than this, but ranks lower because I enter it as 1/2 pizza plus 1/4 pizza or 1/3 plus 1/3 or whatever, I don't usually have a whole one.
Surprisingly, even though my bread is relatively low, Heinz Lentil soup, 1/2 tin, one and a third slices bread plus 10g Flora lighter vegan spread = 1.8g, almost as high as Quorn Pie w gravy 1.85.

I too try to keep salt to 3 to 4 grams a day if you eat processed food that's very hard.
I always use % per 100g on all food product labels.

Be aware of sneaky tricks like calling it sodium which is 2.5 times the salt.
Their are many other names too , as if their trying too fool us or kill us.

Same, although I don't check every day and do go over 4 occasionally.

1g of sodium is the same as 2.5g of salt because salt is sodium + chlorine.

Walmart and macdonolds have been strongly condemned by the world health organisation for the mass use of human grade antibiotics used for serious infections reported in today's guardian on line .

Antibiotic resistance is apparently the next big problem for mankind.

But Hay were OK it's in the USA they wouldn't do that here would they :?

As I said, prepare your own grub. I have my own eggs, rabbits and I am going shooting tomorrow. Still eating spuds and veg from the garden. If there’s something you don’t fancy, don’t eat it.

Just sayin’… :D

Absolutely bonkers, criminaly irresponsible.
On a separate note, did you know that experts have said the salt/sugar/fat combination in a lot of processed and ultraprocessed food is not only unhealthy, it's a combination that's highly addictive. I think one said it's as addictve as heroin.

Having Quorn pie for tea, but gonna have just a half portion of my gravy mix (about 0.25 g salt). The pie itself is 1.34g though. I've written to them about their salt content.
