Meat was simply kept in an old metal meat safe or covered in mutton cloth or muslin. It was also cooked quickly.
I have 2 freezers and a fridge/freezer which I rely on heavily. All are full at the beginning on the month (milk, bread rolls, maragarine, meats, some processed foods (which I hate to say but OH can't cook so when hes on tea duty its a case of just heating it up!!
I would be very worried if the power went out at the beginning of the month.
I need to find an alternative way of storing my monthly shop.
