Start researching how to make olive oil lamps on youtube and google, and get a good length of galvanised wire and some lamp wick (the round type) from your local hardware store.

Also make sure you have hot water bottles (again from cheap shops, they may smell a bit of Chinese factory chemicals for the first 2 years, but that will go with usage) and a camping kettle. Also think about longjohns and long sleeved thermal vests.
