East yorksire

Post by Lingwood »

First post to say hi to all.

I am in rural east yorksire with my family. We are fairly self sufficient if needed, and even the wife likes the "zombie" cupboard as we call it, which contains lots of stuff.

My recent addition has been a 7kw diesel generator hard wired to the house via change over switch to power the whole house if needed.

Oil central heating and aga plus wood burners and solar thermal gives us a good mix of fuel and heating options.

Shooting on atoning land via 12g and .22 air rifle, gives a good meat source .

Looking next for a communication option via cb or hand held VHF type radio.

Look forward meeting/ talking with other locals

Thanks hawk afar. Without going off topic from my simple hello, ref comms. If the SHTF armature radio is OTT and possibly ineffective? And as for licence, again SHTF I don't think people will be checking licences.

I think I will go for a basic cb base type unit, but so many on flee bay used and old (but assume good) and also lots of handheld china type imports that seam to have everything on for less than £50

Lingwood,
Welcome!
Re: comms.... 2 is 1 etc rule. Or in my case 3 as I have the aforementioned inteks (and would never mod them unless we are in a SHTF situ), cb and plug-in old fashioned phone.
