Another Boyo joins the ranks

Post by Tangman »

Greetings from a damp Town in South Wales!

I’ve been aware of the prepping mentality for a few years now.
Actually, I first heard about ‘Survivalists’ by watching a Louis Theroux documentary on BBC1, but I feel that’s whole other kettle of fish... :tinfoil
There was also a program on the Discovery channel a while back called ‘The Colony’, which re-kindled my interest in preparedness.

Anyway, I’ve been a bit of an ‘armchair prepper’ while all through University. I subscribed to a load of prepping and bushcraft channels on youtube, browsed a few websites and forums (including this one). It was always something I was aware of in the back of my mind, but nothing I ever spent too much time thinking about.
Around the time of the banking crisis (about 2 years ago now?), I did a bit more thinking about what I would do if I were one of those responsible adults I’d heard so much about, but as I didn’t have any family or mortgage to worry about, I didn’t dwell on it for too long.

However. Now that I’m working a proper job, and looking for a place of my own, now is the time to make the move from the fantasy world into reality, and to not only become a better person, but a more prepared one as well. 8-)

Big welcome.
The mentality that you speak of is a good one, but i get the impression that we may interpret the whole thing slightly differently based upon personalities and points of view. But so long as we are all doing something constructive then we will all be fine.

Thanks everyone :)

I think my first consideration will be a little kit to keep in the car. I've got a 55 mile round trip to and from work, so I should probably get some supplies together in case of a breakdown.
