Hi all
Just a drop in to say a few things about me so hope i dont bore you and i look forward to spending time on the forums.
First of im 22 years of age, live in the Hertfordshire area. Im highly interested in survialist skills and the equipment needed. I work in a forest area so having the right equipment in my car is highly essential as being stuck there would not be so good. I am also first aid trained which i guess helps a lot. I shoot .22 air rifles i currently own one air rifle and hope to gain a crossbow in the near future.
I enjoy camping and the wildlife, pretty much gained a lot of my skills from my father.
Any way im sure i will enjoy finding out about new equipment and skills on here so i look forward to it.
Thank you
Ryan

Re: New to prepping :)
I am prepping for when all systems go down, i believe that now days eveything is run by modern technology and when all systems fail everything will come down to a basic survival, i would rather be comfortable than struggle through hard times. Im not saying robots are going to take over the world but the scary fact of cyber terrorism and so on is an increasing risk of modern day life.
I just feel most people rely on technology to get through an average day, i dont want to be caught short.
Plus getting out in the open is exciting wandering around the great outdoors an all.
What about yourself?

Re: New to prepping :)
Well, most of my prepping evolved to focus on unemployment, bad weather, erratic income, rising living costs etc.
We live our lives as self sufficient as possible (although we have a long way to go) and learning skills in the traditional way eg using hand tools.
Things are wrong in the world today but who knows how things will progress. I am certainly not prepping for alien invasion or blood sucking zombies...

Re: New to prepping :)
Sounds sensible, the other fact is that using traditional ways are good fun and exciting rather than using a tool that does all the hard work for you.
Any good tips on extra skills i could learn?

Re: New to prepping :)
Skills to learn - my suggestions would be:
Learn to grow your own fruit and veg
Learn to persevere fruit and veg
Learn some animal husbandry (keeping chickens is an easy one, other livestock if you have the land or opportunity to use some land)
Other things to consider for everyday life:
Alternative heating, cooking, lighting.
There is a lot on the forum, take your time having a good read.
