ello everyone, im dan, active british infantry soldier, didnt realise the uk took prepping seriously i thought it was all u.s
anyway wanted to say hello, as being new to the site,
iv had "kits" ready for awhile now, but more along the lines of what im trained to live outside with and what i know works for me, though it involves carrying allot of weight im used to it. i wont go into specifics of what we use. but obviously cant carry too much food so, it is more safe to rely on the land, hunting fishing and learning what natural sources are edible etc, but a few boxes of sea rations can last along time for their weight, and calories. and water purification tablets are a must, lightweight cheap and you can get the 20 litre tablets and carry 100 tablets for around 0.25 lbs. obviously carry more just an example of how light they are. the straws i wouldnt wanna rely on youd need allot of them as they run out after like 20 litres so a big massive straw or a tablet for every 20 liters purified you pick, obviously boiling water is another but tablets are fast and good if you were on the move or not in an established camp/ "bug out location"
the only problem is that i have "kits" ready but if something were to happen id most likely be on the front line of it helping people with my battalion, so i try make sure my family knows whats packed and why it works etc. i wont do drills with them if something happened i have everything pre packed just need to get them on the move.
-obviously all my intentions were for if some thing other then a big wave came or comet etc, something that you woudnt just be wiped out with
all preppers shouldd get an fac license or shotgun license, i have both and and have allot as you can imagine. and it doesnt hurt to get more people in the uk shooting, you join a club go through a probation period, then when a full member can apply for an fac license with your local police.
sorry if iv rambled on not sure if im just supposed to say hello but wanted to give abit of inspiration and ideas that i think would help, i wasnt really thorough with what were trained to live outside with but just a good camping set or knowledge would be fine, i cant go into tactical info for obvious reasons.
one last sentence then il shut up lol, TEST your gear, dont plan on anything being usefull unless you test it, even if you bought the best make of a certain product, even if it was a tent or the best axe/ multi tool, test it, you never know it could be useless and just a gimmick or have a manufacturing flaw.
