My name is Matt, 30yr old from Peterborough and have been reading this site for a couple of weeks now, after finding it through a net search for freeze dried food I think!
I have been interested in prepping for getting on for a year now - not really sure what triggerred the thoughts for a need to prep - but I am increasing my focus on it daily.
This is the only forum I read, but also listen to The Survival Podcast most days - very very good listen, and normally gets me inspired to do something
My current prep situation is -
* Planning on paying off my mortgage in 5 years
* No credit other than mortgage
* Working on my part time business in woodcraft tools (http://www.woodlandcraftsupplies.co.uk) to provide income after I 'retire' post mortgage
* Secure propety
* Woodburner installed for all house heating needs (gas CH and elec heater back up)
* 150ltrs bottled water reserved
* One month worth of canned food for household on top of normal stock
* Working on my allotment plot and providing a (small) measure of household food
* Candles / torches / radio ready for short term power loss
Future plans -
* Imrpove home defense solutions and capability
* Increase wood burner fuel storage
* Increase bottled water reserve
* Add rainwater harvesting system for home use and filter to drink during eotwawki situation
* Increase long term stored food reserves to 3 months (inc 1 month of long term freeze dried or military food items)
* Add generator / alternative energy for back up power
* Add fuel reserves for vehichles/generator
* Improve 1st aid kit / training
Looking forward to being a part of this forum
Cheers
Matt
