Just ordered 4 x 10 litre water containers:

Getting too old to lug 25 litre ones
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

This week I have added two further water butts and I have a TESCO tin food shop coming.

I now have 3-4 months of food and about a month of bottled water.
I want to do a weekend test of power off and see how we cope (just have to persuade the wife)

Got 33mg Oasis tabs delivered. Feb 2031. I put these in stored water, which I re-sterilise every six months.

First bike ride on faster tyre. Seems good. Dug out leg warmers for cooler weather. It's my top half that feels the cold most though. I might put my wind top on for next ride.

Last few weeks i've been doing my Autumn preps - waxing jackets, getting the winter clothes out, giving the boots a good polish etc.

I'm currently in Ripon. It's the end of September. Leaves are turning. The stags at Studley are in rut. I packed for Autumn Up North.... And it's 23 fecking degrees!! Sweating my bloody pips off!!!

Exactly same here. Hadn't noticed the temp climb outside. Went out in long sleeve T and keks, did some digging. Roasting now. Well I was. I just put a nice cool t-shirt and shorts on.

This week, I've been focused on ensuring my back up cooking methods are up to scratch.

I been into the shed and checked the camping stove, hexamine stove fuel and some chaffing fuel. I noticed the chaffing fuel lists an expiry date, I wonder why? I'll need to light one and make sure it still burns. I experimented with chaffing fuel a few years ago, by seeing if it'd boil a pot of water, which it does, nicely.

As well as the above, I'm increasing my food stocks each week, only by a few tins or packs. I'm still a bit short on immediately available stored water, will try and add a few more 5L bottles to the store. Also, checked my water purification tabs are still in date, they are. Only until 2027, so ordered some more.

Caught a cold, and bit of a cough, so probably won't go out on the bike for a few days. But I did a bit of gardening. More or less ready now for some plants to go in next month. Pyracantha is growing nicely at the back, a defensive bush against a vulnerable wall. But burglars could get in from the side, via next door, so there's limits.

The pyracantha was actually cut down a year ago, as it was leggy and growing into my tree. But it's grown back into a nice green bush against tie wall. Quite remarkable.
