Council have announced plans to replace kitchen and bathroom this year. Both updates very much needed and welcome but I will have my work cut out to relocate/hide all my stores and find space for all other kitchen contents during the works, especially if I also get asked to empty the loft.

Bike mechanic came. The axle was seized up. He got it out with a bit of drilling, but the replacement wasn't quite right, so he's coming back next week. He's put my new tyre on, so it should be faster on roads. Said I can ride it, but I might leave it til it's got the new axle. Might just do a short test ride to see how the tyre is. From now on, I'll be undoing and doing up my axles every few months, and maybe adding a bit of grease.

What hub is on the bike? Was it the quick release spindle that was stuck inside the hub?

Add ceramic grease to your Amazon wish list

Small tube (you don't t need much )

You can get bigger tubs if needed
Cheers. Is a Boost, thru axle, not QR. Some history of seizures with Norco apparently. I will check with him what tool to use, which side to undo, and check it regularly. Hopefully the new part avoids the old issue. Problem for me is the recessed side is very hard to see, and it has a false hex above it, so you see that, think 'hex', try one, it seems to fit, and then slips. Accident waiting to happen. And it was seized anyway.

Did a quick test ride this morning. Does seem faster with the new tyre. It doesn't look massively different either. So will probably get another at the end of the month for the front, plus one or two more inners. Then I only have to carry one inner.

How horrendous! Never heard of a fox inflicting that kind of damage :( your poor little 13 year old panther. Sounds like she's survived, and is recovering if she's now disgusted about going out on a leash? Really hope she's on the up and up.

I don't have cats any more, but I do look after my niece's cat when she goes away - the next setup is at New Year, for 3 weeks. I don't have the backpack with the see through section (which is brilliant!) but what I did do last year when he stayed with me, was work on how to use the cat basket clips - my niece does all that, and it's a weird little twist and sink into a slot thing. I was prompted to do it because of an evacuation that had just been called because a WWII bomb had been found, in Portsmouth I think, and hundreds of people had to leave their homes. Being unable to fasten the clip on the cat box would have disqualified me from prepper club

Good luck! I'm emptying my office still, and its taking forever because of my lurgy, I'm just trying to do everything I can - called a halt to it now because my brother is coming along next week while he's down south, and he's bringing his chain saw  brilliant opportunity to start on the weeding so I can grow crops properly next year.

Started September's water container rotation. I like to get them done as soon as the summer's over, in case the heat contaminated them. Prep room gets hottest, so doing that first.

Alcohol wipes delivered. Date in spreadsheet. Some in BOB FAK, some BOB repair kit, some in map case. Rest in Home FAK.

Checked pens in map case and BOB pencil case.

Autumn/winter preps already started a little bit, but most will be done around the end of Sept or October. Done do far:

Boiler service
Radiators test
Bike front light and spare back light charged
Batteries charged and spreadsheet checked
Lawn hopefully final cut
Hedge minor tidy up

I am now trying to imagine what sort of weeds are so bad they need a chainsaw? Bindweed is a nightmare but I don't think it is chainsaw worthy. But all the best with getting the garden ready to crop. I will be stripping out my summer crops soon and plan to completely redo one section of the garden over the winter. But I have said that for the last 2 years and progress has been very slow. I have less excuse this year though as I now have 7 days a week to work slowly not just the weekend.

Went missing ...16 hours later somehow dragged herself back with so many bite marks and blood i didn't recognise her ....foxes generally don't attack cats but I have so many clips from the cctv of her going for them  so one had had enough obviously and turned ..the tooth left in her head confirmed this
Somehow she's survived so far but left her mainly blind
When prepping its always been enough food for the animals meds they need etc ..this one is making sure the place is right for her and at the moment back to lead and harness for her to go out much to her disgust ..
Preps for pets this week ..she hasnt got any of those 9 lives left .
Have a little backpack that you put cats in with the clear front yes i know im a sad so and so but she's been around 13 years and not given me half as much grief as some people have

 mummy escaped the house before her appointment to get "done" and found a big ginger tom cat to "play with" she had 5x but 2 were still born ....

2 weeks after wife spotted on facestalk about 2 orphaned kittens mother had been hit by a car kittens at a guess were 48 hrs old local RSPCA volunteer were unable to attend (late at night and no transport) ... So we turned out and collected 2 tiny ones who were frozen cold and close to death ..... We leased with the local RSPCA (I know them) fetched them home on my beer belly to warm them up (the poor things  ) tried to introduce them to their new mummy who was not impressed and threw one across the room ..

So we took them onto our bed out the way of ours and after 5 minutes our mother cat came in assessed me and Mrs A was doing a crap job picked each kitten up and took them to the "nest box" 10 mins later both were feeding happily really didn't think they'd survived

This week, I actually managed to sort out fuel. I look after a few vans for work, so now I also keep the family car above half a tank. I usually top up on the way home, which saves having to go out again when the warning light comes on.

I swapped out the diesel in the two 20-litre jerrycans in the garage. Diesel lasts longer than petrol, but I still use it up in the car every six months or so. I refill when the supermarket price is low, not when I'm desperate. Marked the date on the can this time. Last batch, I had no idea how old it was.

I changed the batteries in the head torches in both cars. One had started leaking, so that was worth checking.
