We have had a spate of drones hovering over the gardens lately. One kept coming low over ours, and I gestured to it to’go away’. The cocky so and so dropped it right down in front of my wife who was sitting out. I grabbed an air rifle out of the shed and pumped a round into it. Don’t know what damage I did, but it didn’t come back!
I love that! I'm also horrified that cheeky so and sos are actually doing that, mind you

lol i remember in the early 80s,a remote control airplane club flying near my taids land,1st one that went over his cottage was brought down with a 12 bore, when the bloke come to the gate moaning about how much do you think these things cost,my taid replied"these shells are a shilling a piece next one of your models comes over will be two shillings well spent",needless to say they packed up and went on there way

Almost certainly illegal to shoot at it, as you are effectively shooting up into the air. But it must have been as satisfying as hell. Maybe only better if you had brought it down on your own property.

And if you go silent Jenny, we'll have to have a dig under Jansman's compost heaps just in case

Least in a shed you can alarm it

You can get tank level alarms too that page a remote sounder if the level drops quick

That's the "problem" with wood , the amount of space it takes up sat there drying for a year o two. I have a couple of log stores on the front garden so they would be easy to rob. The irony there is that I've deliberately made it harder to just walk around to the back of the house ( sometime ago I had two eastern european women do that to try and steal scrap) which means it's less work to take wood out of the van and onto the store. I too haven't heard of fuel thefts from vehicles although cutting off the cats is one I've heard or read about more frequently.

I think a lot of vehicles were "hardened" against fuel theft after the fuel crisis of 2001. Our old Astra was not one of them and we suffered 2 doses of cut fuel line, Little **** filled his jerry can and leaft the rest to flood the car parking area with petrol. Our neoghbour got the same treatment on Bonfire Night which the local fire brigade simply loved
Household tanks are another matter entirely and I can only agree with those of you with more experience about sheds, alarms etc.

In many ways the bulk is an advantage 8n my mind. To shift our log store would require two articulated lorries, a telehandler and a bank holiday weekend 🙂

On a serious note even with an estate car you couldn't steal that much wood and it takes far longer to load than pumping out a tank. Bulk propane is probably the hardest to steal - you would need very specialised equipment ( although it can be fone, I've seen our tank pumped out when swapping it for a new one). Propane cylinders are probably the easiest to steal though - and often left, unsecured, in plain sight
