I'm looking to join a Prepper group in the midlands, I'm a ham radio operator with a foundation license and a very keen survivalist, two years in the british army when I was younger/ scout leader/ camper/ 4x4 lover. Member of RAYNET, air rifle instructor, cb'er.
I'm from Stourbridge, West Midlands.
Basic preps.
Bug out location found
Some canned food brought and hidden
Own air rifle for hunting
Own a 4x4
Go camping frequently
Just basics at the moment, but would like to build on these
Very much into QRP radio.

Hello and welcome to the Forum.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.
Re: Hi to everyone
Hi and welcome,
I am looking into my /P kit and I think I'll base around a X1P QRP set.
I am quite impressed with the write-ups on the Ham websites. I'd go for an 817 but I quite like the idea of £250 verses £600 lol
I was only talking /P kit with fellow Hams from CARS on an informal field day today.
All the best,
Wulfshead

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Wulfshead, in my opinion you should go for the 817, I've got one and their brilliant little QRP rigs, I got it off eBay for £300 second hand and just added bits to it for my kit.Wulfshead wrote:Hi and welcome,

I have other radios, but love the QRP ones, I've thought about getting the x108, I think that's the 5 watt version, there's also a 20 watt upgrade too, which is about £400.
From the preppers point of view, you only need a foundation license to practice, but I'm still studying hard to get my other licenses.
I'll try and post some pics of my kits if you can on here or not.

Matt,
Thanks for your thoughts RE the 817.
I gave you a look up on the usual place and it's nice to put a name to a face.
Welcome again and enjoy the forum.
