I'm not military but it is very interesting what you guys have in your kit as is what you manage to leave with, I saw an article in the net the other day of soldier's kit since Oh I don't know when, but long before guns right up to Afghanistan dozens of photographic examples along with descriptions, the variations must be greater now than ever as everyone's a specialist it seems ;)
Oh and by the way thank you for your service and to all our military personal !... doesn't get said often enough in the UK :)
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

My word!! Does it come with its own mule to carry it all???

I just got myself a wheely suitcase with 4 wheels as I can't carry/drag the 2 wheel ones, being vertically challenged with knackered wrists due to typing for ahem a few years. No way could I carry even a quarter if that lot!! :?

Picked up two mobile phone powerbanks to keep in my GHB for trips to That London - something between here and London robs my phone of power when it would normally last all day. £6.99 from Aldi. They are walking out of the shop and they only came into stock today!

This week was our first week of prepping. We picked up 20 tinned produce, a load of dry packaged food stuffs, bottled water, medicines and cleaning products.
We didn't spend much and have the beginnings of our cache.

On top of our regular consumption of "stuff" we can now survive an extra week :)

Yeah theres a basic issue of kit which lots of guys then go and either modify or replace with bits from kit shops, which makes things easier in places but costs you alot of money, the larger all green daysack in my picture cost me £50 about a year and a half ago and its great so there are good bits out there.
Decaff I dont think I could carry full weight very far anymore, its something you build up too, full kit with a few days of ammo weighed me down to about 130lb's once! Thank god thats behind me now but its all taken its toll on my knees, theyve forgotten what cartliage is!

Short of space so having a clear out of all sorts of stuff, including stuff I was keeping as a sort of prep, like books to read when there is no electricity and no telly! Still have a vast pile but have given away about 60 so far and still counting! Also took 3 loads to charity shops including clothes and shoes that I was keeping "in case".

Means I have more room to store food, toilet rolls, soap etc, which seems like a better idea than discarded clothing and made me more free of junk which made me feel better.

This is a problem I have with my prepping, my natural instinct to keep clutter down and one upon a time I could open a cupboard a find things easily because it was only half full, but prepping makes that hard and knowing where to draw the line is tough, does any one else have this dual personality problem :tinfoil and if so how do you cope? :?

Yes! I realise that if not for my preps, I'd be living in a beautifully minimalistic house :)

As it is, I try to keep the living room and the trip to the loo for visitors clear and clutter-free. Everywhere else, its Clutter Wars

I try to keep my prepping stuff in out of the way places, can't cope with clutter it makes me feel stressed. Out of site is good for me in places that I don't have to use on a daily basis. I do love storage though.. one of my weak points  I need to get decent strong shelving system into my hall cupboard so that I can maximize the space that is in there, expensive though! I've been looking around at cheaper options but they just don't look like they could take the strain, problem being that 2 of the walls to the cupboard are just too flimsy so can't screw anything to them to make it sturdy. Need good strong freestanding racking system.

Well, I have had a good clear out this week. Our food storage is now far more manageable, and I feel far better for seeing what we have. Now I have to start on my workshop.

I may be some time...
