Portable Gas Oven

Post by gadgetguy »

Saw one of these in Costco the other day.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/18131800 ... 80&ff14=95

Tried uploading a photo from my iphone but it kept saying the file was too big!! I have no connection with the evil bay link, easiest way to show you all :)

Runs off gas has two rings and a small oven, probably will only fit a large chicken. I already have two colmen gas rings with grill but thought the oven would be handy.

Will be purchasing one next week and i will cook up a roast and report back. :)

Is this to take camping or as a bug in?

if for a bug in how about building this into a box

Loads of caravan / camper ovens on ebay for way less money ;)

that said cant see there been a problem building a plywood box round it to make it portable

Glad to save someone some money..

We have several caravan dealers near us that break caravans for spares so get the yellow pages out try and balance age and condition...

something by Trauma Spinflo or Belling Are probably going to be best for obtaining any needed spares for

Ive been thinking of a caravan boiler for hot water but no idea where i would put one

I'm trying to convince my scout troop we need to get an army surplus oven like the Coleman we already have big heavy double burners we use at fixed camps for it to go on. It would mean the scouts could cook more food the actually like pizza for one, also means as quartermaster I can add it to my prepping equipment list without spending any money
Not planning for the end of the world just to survive till normality resumes, while sticking to the scout moto be prepared!

Still considering do I want to survive the end of the world or deck chair on the front lawn with a cold beer?

Folds flat, bug in, bug out.

I really wouldn't considerer the coleman oven a bug out bit of kit unless your going by vehicle

I'll be your knight in shiny armour junmist. :D

Look at the larger calor butane bottles with the push fit regulators..

Remove little cap by pulling string / strap

Place regulator over gas bottle and push down till it clicks Then open gas Valve

similar to this

http://www.calor.co.uk/essentials-butan ... lator.html

unless a gorilla fits a propane/ smaller 4kg butane bottle regulator they are easy enough to undo with the correct spanner

http://www.calor.co.uk/essentials-heavy ... anner.html

however just remember that they are a reverse thread so undo clockwise or you will be swinging on the spanner all day thinking its rather tight ;) :)

Ps I prefer white bread if your cooking

Easy enough to carry if there are two or three or you. They are more suited to vehicle based camps, on foot I'd just make bannock bread in a pan.
