How about organising area groups/meetings,so like minded people can get together, after all if the SHTF, we are all going to need other people and it would be nice and easier if we all knew each other face to face, please think of the benefits of doing this and bringing it to a more personal level

Then do it Jamesc, don't wait for someone else to do it. Be proactive!

I am in the New Forest in Hants with 2000 acres of woodland complete with roundhouse, parchuts tarps kitchen etc where we run one of our schools from, happt to organise a weekend meet or something, i pay £10 per head for rent so as long as thats covered happy to try to organise something, also happy to run a few masterclasses if you like on fire, shelter, water etc. Anyway let me know thoughts the offers there although i will need lead in time as we are teaching 7 days a week so will need to diarise. Cheers

How lovely!

James, honestly, I'd follow up on that suggestion - find out what area you're in in relation to this forum, and set up an Area meet. I did one for my area recently - only 3 of us, and it was just for a lunchtime drink in a pub (I had tea!) but at least it happened, thats two people I've met in real life that I know are preppers.

My sense is that meeting up for an afternoon is something that people are more willing to commit to as an initial event, and that big things like weekend meets come later. Step by step, sort of thing. If you do want to go for a big weekend thing, tho, as it would be on your "territory", so to speak, you'd be the one to suggest whats available, which you sort of are already, master classes on the basics. I wonder if people can drop in for the day rather than stay overnight? It gets complicated straight away, sorry, but thats one question I'd like to know - I'd love to attend masterclasses, but I'm not keen on going camping until I need to, frankly ...

Fair enough - and I'll take you up on that (except I'll skip the venison, being as wot I'm vegetarian)! Your detail underneath your forum name has you down as being in the New Forest, is that right? Googling on another tab ( I thought I knew, and I was right, but I had to be sure  ) just west of Southampton, I can do that in a day! Tho as I'm currently coming down with a bug, and am off to France next month, and blah blah blah ... not till November at the earliest. Want to set up a separate thread for an Area/Regional meet? This is the one I set up for last weekend: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=4529
