Insurance is a no-brainer. By the way, I've seen people talking about keeping £ thousands in the home. You should check your policy. And I had to ring them to check this. Mine only covers up to £500 cash, whether in the home or wherever. And there's a £200 Excess. Of course if you have a good safe or make it impossible to find, you can chance it.
