Thoughts on this bit of kit

Post by Alloneword »

There a few things i'm missing from my complete kit, one being water, we always keep a half decent amount in doors for basic use but living in a 1 bed shoe box in London room is not great, anyway came across something called "Pure2go" a few weeks ago and contacted US site as they had not UK outlet up yet, anyway got this email today:
Your details have been forwarded to myself from our USA operation.

I believe you are interested in our products and wanted to know where they can be purchased in the UK.

I'm pleased to advise you that our new online store is now up and running where you will find comprehensive information of the Pure2Go products, the company, parent company Water One Inc etc.

The website is http://www.pure2gouk.co.uk and the products are currently being discounted.

Water One Inc has over 50 years of providing pure water to the scientific and medical industries as well as supplying to well known brands for pure drinking water.

Pure2Go was launched in the USA last year and is already used by all of the branches of the USA Military Services and many of the Civilian Disaster Relief services.

The product is unique and a world first in providing a water purifier [not a filter] that instantly kills Bacteria, Cysts and Viruses.

There's no boiling of water or adding chemicals to the water or even having to use UV pen light.

The unique patented product called ViroBac developed by Water One Inc and only available with Pure2Go has taken 20 years to develop and is now available in a drinking straw type housinhg.

ViroBac kills Bacteria, Cysts and Viruses instantly on contact.

Following great interest from the USA launch of the Pure2Go procucts they are now available here in the UK

The following Youtube videos explain the function and use of the unique Pure2Go Water Purifier.

All the best
Now bering in mind i'm prepping for the Thames to flood, so Christ knows what could get into water supply, also i have half an eye of some fruit bat putting something in the water as well but no idea what i'm talking abount on specifics.

So what do you think of the above kit and is there a realistic chance of something i should worry about getting threw, also would you suggest something over this, if so what?

Please bear in mind i am prepping for the River Thames to flood and how i can get to safe ground, I'm not worried about the end of the world..... I'll die with the other Minions.
I can't trust Govt or local Council to help me so i have to help myself.

I would be wary of purchasing any product that does not state the Filter pore size (microns). This is what you use to determine what it can and cannot filter out. Basically the smaller the microns it can filter, the better the filter will be. It states that it can filter out 99,997% of Viruses, but that can be a misleading in the sense that it may be able to filter out virus particles attached to larger particles (think human/animal faeces) but not the virus particles itself when they aren't attached to anything. So that 99,997% could be meaningless.

This Youtuber has a very good video explaining everything.

Also price isn't always an indicator that it can do more, it just might last longer.

As this is NOT a filter, micron size is not so important because it is using a different method to PURIFY water.

The statement it removes certain radiological elements is interesting. I'm always on the lookout for a system that removes chemicals, biological load is easy to deal with, getting rid of heavy metals and chemical is the stuffer and is often overlooked.
This looks like it deserves further investigation. :)

I've been trying to find information on the patent, but I can't find it, and I don't see the patent number anywhere on their website, I did see an article saying that a patent has been applied for, so that would explain why it's missing.
Two things jump out at me, firstly it says it's not a filter, but all the information I can find on the ViroBac system they they claim to be using says that it's a filter. Secondly it claims to kill pathogens rather than remove them, which a filter couldn't do, it would have to contain some kind of chemical to do that, whether it's coating the filter mesh or a cartridge of the chemical that the water passes through.
I would say to wait until their patent comes through, then you'll be able to see exactly how (and if) it works.
I can't say for sure whether it does or doesn't do what it says so far, I would want to know a bit more info before I was to trust it, so my advice is to wait until they put up a patent number, then you can see all of the information and make an informed decision.

Personally, I go for a two stage method, microfiltration first, which takes out bacterial nasties, then chlorine dioxide tablets to kill anything that has got through like viruses (which are too small to filter out with a normal filter unless they're attached to something larger) or bacteria that you've allowed through by user error, microfiltration and then chlorine dioxide will kill everything.
As for heavy metals and chemical contaminants, the only method I know that will get rid of those reliably is reverse osmosis, setups are expensive and getting even a little water is a lot of effort, but it's proven to work and the info on how it works is freely available.

I will be watching this one to see how it develops, because if it does do what it says then I'll buy one.

Just watched first video on the Pure2Go thing - they refer to it as a filter, or series of filters, repeatedly, but so far there are no details or even hints as to what the filter consists of or its method. A quick glimpse of a simplified graphic, is all.

So far I am a little sceptical on this one...no dwell time and instant complete purification, no mention of suspended particles, turbidity, TDS (Total Dissolved Solids, or something like that)...surely they could give some info without giving away their (not yet) patented system ?

Anyway, off to watch the rest of the vids ;)

PS I found this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6KBxPkNITo whilst watching the above videos. Sounds interesting, there are plenty of reviews too. Im not advocating or suggesting anything other than a bit of context. :)
