Instant broth idea

Post by cornerstone »

I want to make a broth with dried vegetables as the basic ingredients for a winter large mason jar, I was thinking of the usually dried peas, lentils barley dried onions seasoning and added Batchelor's noodles crushed up bullion for the stock and maybe some smash to give it some added thickness I have no idea of the proportions though, I was thinking maybe of buying 6 or so shop bought packets and adding say 6 packets of noodles crushed and a packet of smash.

well not so instant broth more tampered with broth

Good idea, there are loads of youtube videos on the subject:

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

wilko do a selection, lil: a one litre Kilner with the two part lid costs £3.50. I've found two lots of the ones with the clip top lids, various sizes, in charity shops, at just under half price.

I use kilner, but only when on offer is Sainsbury or Dunelmn Mill.

I also get my replacement lids from the above also.

Ikea also do the clip top kilner style jars, cheaper than the real deal and the kilner seals fit too.

I have both, the Kilner ones feel a bit sturdier but they are more expensive. I've not had an issue with the Ikea ones though.

I have both as well, I tend to pick up the kilner ones if I see them on special offer somewhere, they're pretty pricey for what they are so I buy them when I see them a bit cheaper.
