I was so hoping to trumpet this remarkable bargain find in my local ASDA, but it was not to be!
I'm a big fan of Jackfruit as a meat substitute stockpile item, so I filled my basket ( not a euphemism) when I saw tinned Jackfruit curry at 35p in my local ASDA.

But today I was in another local asda and it was £1.50, so no bargain there and it doesn't feature for online delivery. I guess it's left over stock from Veganuary? Not a bargain then! But was it any good?
Anyway. I just tried it. A Good Red Thai Curry sauce ruined. Supposedly 20% jackfruit but barely a forkful and it had sod all taste or texture! Pah!
Still, including rice, I got a tasty meal for 40p, so it can stay in the stash.
But it has inspired me to crack open some tins of just jackfruit and this week I'll be force feeding it to the family in various disguises.

Note to jackfruit virgins: A great tinned meat substitute, but you MUST pre-cook it like meat if it's to have any texture.

Re: Jackfruit Red Thai Curry 35p :(
I can only find it tinned in syrup which flavours off.
I tried Jack fruit enchiladas before, the texture was good enough but the syrup flavoured into the fleshy fruit making it too sweet even for my sweet tooth.
Any tips?
