Whatever you use, the alcohol content needs to be at 60% or higher to kill viruses :)

In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Hi, I’m Jean405,
I haven’t posted on this forum for a long time, but had to today

I have made my own hand sanitizer

70% spirit
30% glycerin
A few drops essential oil

It seems 70% spirit is the sweet point to help kill bacteria/virus, while glycerin is an humectant, that will hydrate the skin. Essential oils kill bacteria and viruses, oregano being one of the best, but lavender is also good and smells nice too.

Here in Denmark we ran out of hand gel last week, but I am a skincare formulation, so I had all the ingredients at home to make my own

I hope this helps

Thank you Jean. When you say 'spirit' do you mean surgical spirit?

I've made it using vodka but that's nowhere near strong enough for this virus. I'd say surgical spirits would be fine.

I’m sorry, yes, surgical spirit, and I’m a skincare formulator, not formulation!

I did a search for sanitiser and threw up the following
Cath Kidston Cath Kidston London Cosmetic Pouch. Clicked on link and actually HAS hand sanitiser in it. Maybe people should look at beauty packages. ;)
Not worried about powering the whole house, just eating hot food, getting a brew, seeing through the dark, and staying warm.
