Calibre is free software to convert ebooks to different formats, Kindle (mobi format) etc

Borrowbox is another good app, it lets you borrow ebooks from you local public library, not permanent downloads but worth hooking up with

Project Gutenberg offers all the free old classics. Worth looking at some of the old cooking/recipe/camping/exploration books, takes you back to basics

I'm not advocating illegal downloads but I'm told its is very simple to download pretty much any book thats in electronic format.
