Silent 999 calls

Post by Arzosah »

I had no idea about this. It's been operating since 2002, and it sounds quite complex, but could still be really helpful.

There's a link to a "how to" guide in the middle of the article, and this is what it leads to: https://www.policeconduct.gov.uk/sites/ ... _guide.pdf

It's basically using the "55" buttons during the call, but you have to do it in a specific way. I haven't read it properly yet  but I can't do that at this time of night

There is also the text 999 system originally designed for the deaf / dumb

Along with similar for btp

https://www.btp.police.uk/61016_text_se ... ce%20force.

Coupled with what 3 words could be a game changer for quiet contact and a precise location

Also if no or very poor mobile phone network a text often gets out when you can't have a voice call
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine
