Mylar Bag education needed

I'm thinking if getting some Mylar bags but am not sure which to get or how to use them. Is there a specific brand that is best. What thickness to use? Do I vac seal the Mylar directly or just seal. Vac seal then put plastic inside Mylar and just seal. I'm confused.
