The rule of threes.

Post by jansman »

So. The idea of of the rule of threes was raised by myself in the ‘ fishing’ thread. The American Survivalist Ragnar Benson highlighted this concept; All your survival needs should be met by three independent ways. So that you have a triple layered fallback.

Let’s start with water, the most important element.Me?

1. Municipal supply
2. Storage
3.harvesting
4. The brook over the road.

Ok ,that is four independent ways . Even better than three.

What about you?
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Robert Frost.

Covid 19: After that level of weirdness ,any situation is certainly possible.

Private water supply from spring.
Burn out the back.
Free running ditch out the front.

The last two would both need boiling/filtering. Have two sawyers just in case.

I hanker after a wood burning stove but:

We are in a housing association rental in a smokeless zone and I suspect I would soon get tired of finding/storing/chopping wood and cleaning out the stove. Although as t'other half likes playing with fire, he would probably lay and light it for me...
