Good point. Yeah, the glass is completely shattered and still in place so I assume it is bonded to the panel. I shall investigate resins........

I recently bought a 170w photo voltaic panel which unfortunately arrived with the glass shattered. The supplier is sending a replacement foc and has said I don't need to return the damaged panel. And us. £1000 to fill the tank when we moved in in April. Xpect to have to top up again mid winter. Definitely not off grid, as su says, just off gas and water.

I have some rechargeable AA batteries that are 20+ years old that I still use. Granted they're not as powerful or hold their charge as long but they still work so as frnc says, you just need to recharge them more often and maybe think about what you're using them in. Huh, there's a coincidence ;), I have a 4d maglite under the car seat in case I breakdown at night and a 1500 lumen olight next to the bed for er, power cuts.

Joking aside, I used to work in a spinal unit and the number of people who broke their back when they got up for a pee in the night and fell down the stairs in the dark was frightening. I love the dark but a bit of background lighting doesn't go amiss.
