Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11

Finally got a decent session digging and weeding the allotment and raised beds. A really poor and late start this year and I'm cross at myself. Back and shoulders suffering. Covering areas with cardboard and tarps was a great help in suppressing weeds. Amusingly, I'm growing onions and garlic in the...

Re: Pallet Wood quality Question

All tips and encouragement gratefully received. None of those jacks available and unfortunately most of the framing is vertical so nothing good to put a jack under. But the plan is evolving and is now in the advanced early concept stage. Thanks to those who accept that this adventure fits (tenuously...

Re: Pallet Wood quality Question

Just a caveat , this does assume the bases of the shed sides are intact and not rotted . They can also be replaced insitu but it's a fiddly job. The bottom of the shed sides ARE rotten! The frame and some of the bottom panels. So, raising the sides with wedges won't work. Hence the idea of stilts w...

Instead of just hitting the 'post reply' button, you can just hit the " button to the top right of the post, for a well parsed quote. Then just delete out any unwanted bits and add your comment after the last [/quote]

Re: Advice for a hopeless gardener

Prepper fail: Admonish me for my stupidity !!! I kept loads of packets of seeds in a bucket in the garage. It was almost full. Mostly in their original packets, some of which were opened. Door left open, it got thoroughly rained on over several weeks: Paper packets got soaked and are now mildewed. S...

Re: Cheap solar battery charging

Are there step by step instructions for posting and replying to posts anywhere. I'm not familiar with how fora work. This one uses BBCode, of which there are a few syntax variants. Hitting the " Quote button does most of the work for you. Most 'tag' features are aided by the editor buttons, bu...

Re: Pallet Wood quality Question

If it was my shed I'd remove the roof, unscrew each of the wall frames from the floor and then each other. Then repair and rebuild (with upgrades)..... But then I'd be working on my own with just my dodgy back for company. Jenny, take loads of pics. I'd love to see how MrJ does this trick OK. We ha...

Re: Pallet Wood quality Question

You've got to remember that not all pallets are created equal. ...They come in lots of different shapes and sizes too and you might need to get quite a few to make a reasonable base. We probably have enough quantity to make the base, but it will be a jigsaw of all different shapes sizes and thickne...

Re: New and planning on abandonning you all. . . .

Hi all, I'm John and I've been prepping since the 90s. Our main preps were for bugging in. Being a little obssesive I've been prepping for the whole village. However we are now planning on "bugging out" in eastern europe. Which means I have many preps which I would like to find a good hom...
