Re: Where do you store your food?
We are just having a new kitchen, more storage/cupboard space but less worktops. We could not have both and so decided on the cupboard space, if push comes to shove at times such as Christmas when I am feeding the 5000 I will bring in a camping table for extra worktop space. We do have an understair...

Advice on EDC bag please
So as with many of us I carry an EDC. I still use the old one I had when I worked 24 hour shifts/overnight away from home. I am older now and have some mobility issues and am finding the bag way too heavy. I no longer work overnight or 24 hour shifts and need to lighten the load. My truck is parked ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10
I'm currently preparing to not have a functional kitchen for a few days (hopefully not weeks) whilst we fit the new one. Electrician is coming Wednesday whilst I have the grandchildren, the bathroom is down the hallway off the kitchen so may need to set up an outdoor bathroom along with a field kitc...

Re: Hello John got a new motor.
Public transport needs to be improved. I live semi rurally and can get to my nearest city in 15 minutes in the car, 25 on the bus at a cost of £5.50 return, however I cannot get to one of the nearest towns where I work on the bus without travelling into the city and back out again which would take a...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10
Spent most of today tidying up the garden, prepping the raised beds and planting some peppers and tomatoes, I am late getting started this year. The rhubarb is doing amazingly well and the raspberries and fruit bushes are all sprouting as are the apple and plum trees. It has been a lovely day here w...

Re: Bugging out in the UK
Bugging out for me would be a last resort. Our options would be camping. I am a keen camper but currently in Scotland with a tent (either mad or stupid). We have had bad winds, heavy torrential rain for 12 + hours, ice, hail, sleet and snow. It was minus 6 last night, we did have a form of heating a...

Being hounded to get a smart meter
I am being hounded by EDF to get a smart meter fitted. Phone calls, texts and emails. I do not want one. How long before energy suppliers start penalising us for not having one? Perhaps when there are alternatives to the variable rate tariff again?

Re: Your coal and wood use this Winter, compared to last year
We have used a lot more wood but much less oil. Some free wood and some bought. I prefer the heat from the wood burners to the oil heating, cost wise it is swings and roundabouts really although we can keep the log burners on for much longer than we could afford to use the oil.

Re: Is ,or has, anyone used their preps in a full- on way?
My Granny was a bit of a prepper, although this was quite some time ago so I am not sure the word existed then. She prepped for Grandad's retirement, food, cleaning stuff, new sheets, towels, tea towels etc so that they would not have to worry about spending much money on such things whilst they adj...
