Re: Prepping when ill or infirm

Nice to hear from you Jansman.... KBO mate. I think one of the key principals of Prepping is being able to adapt to changing circumstances. No power? Have alternative heating/cooking/lighting No food in the shops? Have a stockpile No money coming in? Have a sockful of cash Can't do the things you co...

Re: Practicing CAT7 tourniquet - how check legs?

Unless its Hosing go with pad, dressing and pressure..... If it is bad enough to need a CAT wind it up until the blood stops. TK's should only be removed in Resus or Theater...... ie not by you or me. I think you'll find that if you're practicing until your pulse stops then you're not going far enoug...

Re: Prepper -'lite' or full on survivalist

I suppose going by these definitions I too would be towards the upper half of Prep-lite...... But then so are most of the LDS (assuming they've stuck to doctrine) and anyone of my Grandmother's generation (not that there is many of them left nowadays). I once read that a Prepper learns to make soap,...

Re: boot laces

Its basically because you're got fibres rubbing against metal, my re-enactment shoes just have holes punched through the leather and those laces don't wear at all. Even metal eyelets will wear the laces. The loops you show have two edges the laces rub on and that speeds up the wear more. I avoid boo...

Re: Value Range foods compared

I recently tried Morrison's own brand soups and quite liked most of them (well all the ones that are flavours I'll eat at least), not a lot of lumps (they're not that kind of soups) but they do have some texture to them. Pea&Ham Mushroom Chicken Carrot&Parsnip (surprisingly good) Mixed Veg. ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10

Plans for today: a spreadsheet for cars in my price range on Autotrader. I've been rabbiting about that for weeks - time to finally do it, its the biggest prep I could actually do. I've started collecting safety supplies I already own, from around the house, I have a surprising number, very pleased...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10

Plans for today: do I dare to make quince marmalade? I'd like to keep more of the body of the fruit and not throw it away. Also, a spreadsheet for cars in my price range on Autotrader. I've been rabbiting about that for weeks - time to finally do it, its the biggest prep I could actually do. I've s...
