Re: prep fail

Funnily enough I had a small bbq this evening using charcoal bought last year for similar reasons but other than some mouse damage to the bag it seemed to be fine, no issues so perhaps you were unlucky (our shed isn't the driest place in the world either!)

Re: This I'll come in handy .

I have developed an almost super-human skill over the years. It beggars belief, honestly, how extraordinarily readily my "skill" manifests itself. The skill revolves around all the stuff I have "retained" over the years, and the skill itself is: Whenever I can't find the "th...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

We finally got our new peat bank allocated to us, so we have spent many hours over the last 2 weeks up there. Digging peat for winter fuel is heavy work at first but well worth the effort. We normally burn wood that I can source almost for free, but peat burns better and for longer. Hopefully we ca...

Re: Security

Sorry the OP had the experience but glad they didn't get in, but this topic has inspired me to think about a "panic button" setting for my smart-home kit. It's entirely feasible to have a specific button (or a shortcut/command on phone etc.) to kick off an automation sequence that turns on...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

After a 2yr hiatus (last year due to covid, previous year due to house move) I'm deep-cleaning the caravan as we had a couple of mice in there last year & she knows where they've been so I'm cleaning every millimetre I can reach with a cloth. Got half of it done this afternoon, will finish it of...

Re: Article of the new rules around wood and coal burning for home heating

I knew there were changes on the way but hadn't been keeping up with it. Bit of a pain as I was planning on buying a bag of two of coal just to keep as emergence fuel as I have a reasonable stock (and supply) of wood fuel currently but we're peppers & plan for when such fuel isn't readily availa...

Re: Who's getting the vaccine

A friends father (diabetic & heart issues etc.) had a serious eye issue recently resulting in permanent blindness in one eye, caused by a blood clot in his optic nerve. Anecdotal i know but a good proportion of the people i know who have either been ill with covid or have suffered side effects ...

Re: Who's getting the vaccine

A friends father (diabetic & heart issues etc.) had a serious eye issue recently resulting in permanent blindness in one eye, caused by a blood clot in his optic nerve. Found out today that the doctors treating him have said they're now 100% certain the clot was caused by the vaccine (AZ) so the...
