Wife and I are cashless 99% of the time, have been for about three years now. I keep some cash in the cars for emergency use and keep £100 in an envelope at home but we don't use cash, even our window cleaner prefers bank transfer and the taxi we use for getting to and from the pub now takes cards. ...

Cost is based on power used, the Asda is 2Kw so about 60p an hour if its continually heating which is cheaper than an electric oven but more expensive than a gas oven.

To be honest we're fortunate enough to be able to soak up the increased price of gas so last week we went through £11-£14 a day in gas, yesterday it was down to £7 which is right for us this time of the year.

How pensioners relying on a state pension or low income families cope is heartbreaking.
