Re: What are you dehydrating?

I marinaded the beef for 24 hrs but read some where that it was best to wipe it off before putting it in the dehydrator, and rely on what had been absorbed by the meat, I ended up with something tasting more like biltong than jerky. The pork I used Chinese style cubes from Aldi I think it was that t...

Re: What are you dehydrating?

Mrs Deeps is quite into it, she still mocks me for my torches and stuff but she's starting to get with the programme a wee bit I know that feeling so well lol, I too got one for Crimbo and so far I've only done meat 2 lots of pork jerky and one lot of beef, she really liked the beef so she's pushin...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.

Wait till summer do a bbq get her in a deck chair and load a plate with grub and see how she manages ;) a mess tin makes sitting in a car or on a deck chair a less messy occasion  LMAO That'd be worth seeing, if I'm still having the same problems with her by then I'll post the pictures :) Good...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.

Bought a couple of little hexi stoves yesterday, £2.50 from Sports direct if anyone wants one. The wife's winter car bag is almost done just got to get her a plastic plate, as she refuses to eat out of a mess tin. " Oh I couldn't possibly do that" so many stumbling blocks when the other ha...

Re: Computer?

I'd have to agree with Plymton. some form of e reader and memory cards over a laptop. Just for the weight and size advantage and it doesn't all have to be how to do stuff. I'd say it's at least as important to have something along just to read for the sake of your sanity, the odds are internet will ...

Re: calor gas bottle

This might sound like a dumb question, but alternate cooking supplies were something I never really considered before coming on here. Apart from a hexi stove for camping, I never gave it a thought until now. Do the calor gas etc refills have a use by date or do they just last as long as the seal on ...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.

Same as most of us we've been getting the last stages of Xmas together but a few more bits of the winter kit have come, just a couple of bits left but it's going to be next month for them, but at least the main things have been taken care of. We went shopping yesterday I added to the bin bag collect...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.

Well the winter kit has gone in the wife's car, although it's not quite finished, but I can add to it as I go. Mine's got the snow shovel and some water, the rest will have to wait but at least the wife will be OK. I knew it was gonna be a marathon rather than a sprint, but it'll keep me busy. Done ...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.

Been a busy week for me, remember I'm starting out almost from scratch apart from buying a couple of tins of beans extra. I've done both the wife and myself the little key ring thing I mentioned with a bit of cash in it and a couple of paracetamol in each really couldn't get any more in them. Slow s...
