Re: Lack of physical silver

Its the same reason I wouldn't buy held gold (where the seller stores it for you  ), if I can't touch it it ain't mine There are a number of options where you have allocated gold stored in a secure facility. It is audited. Residual risk of course around seizure but I think there would be time...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Without wanting to sound too contrary, your time and postage has to be worth something. Sending £10 of stuff for £20 isn’t that bad. No different to supermarkets selling 40p mushrooms for £1 or restaurant selling ingredients that cost £4 for £20...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

I’m ashamed to say that I just use the remote start or parking climate on the main car. Turns on automatically, defrosts, heats the seats and steering wheel, clears the windows and ready to go! Awful for the environment but god it’s good in winter.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

I’d say it’s a sensible prep for anyone. I make sure my father and my father in law have an up to date copy of our wills at all times. Every quarter or so I update them on life insurance polices, manor investments, bank accounts, shareholdings etc such that if I or we died then it would be easier to...

Re: Choice and sources of Jars

Slight tangent but I’ve just had a rummage on home bargains website and it kinda does what it says on the tin. Quite good value for lot of stuff!

Re: WHO warns vaccinated travellers could still need to be quarantined

It isn’t possible to crush the virus reliably. Viruses are very good at what they do. It is ever thus in the history and pre-history of our species. I think we are aligned in that until there are tangible positive results flowing through In the numbers then there won’t be any cause for relaxing soci...

Re: WHO warns vaccinated travellers could still need to be quarantined

Exactly. The fact that there hasn’t been long enough to prove that something isn’t true is not the same as safely assuming it is true. I can’t think how this vaccine can be any different to any other vaccine in this regard. It will work well for most people, it will harm a vanishingly small number o...

Re: WHO warns vaccinated travellers could still need to be quarantined

There seems to be an accepted truth on here that once vaccinated, it is still possible to become infected and to be so without symptoms and to be shedding high volumes of virus such that you become a super-spreader.

They isn’t backed up by the facts. Where is this fear coming from?

Re: WHO warns vaccinated travellers could still need to be quarantined

I’d add that it is so sad that so many people are living without hope, including some friends of mine, some of which are younger than me and in their thirties. They have almost zero risk of dying from this thing yet have locked themselves away almost exclusively since March. I convinced them to join...

Re: WHO warns vaccinated travellers could still need to be quarantined

I think the 12 week thing is unusually smart. The Pfizer vaccine was tested at t+3 weeks for the second dose. That was a fairly arbitrary timing and there is nothing to suggest that, like many other vaccines, the top up won’t be just as effective 12 weeks or even a year after the first shot. Now cle...
